Where your cooling dollars actually go
Certified Air Masters LLC is a family-run HVAC company owned by Frank and Ruthand energy efficiency work is one of the things we get asked about most once the hot months start stacking up. An efficiency upgrade isn't one product. It's a set of decisions about the equipment you own, the ductwork it breathes through, and the way the system is being told to run.
Some homes genuinely need a higher-efficiency system. Plenty of others are paying extra every month because of leaky or poorly routed duct runs, a thermostat that was never set up properly, a filter situation that chokes airflow, or a system that was sized for a different house than the one it's sitting in. We'd rather tell you which of those is true for you than sell you the biggest ticket in the catalog.
That's the point of looking before quoting. The upgrade that pays for itself in one house is a waste of money two streets over, and the only way to know which one you're in is to go through the system in person.
What a lower summer bill looks like, step by step
Here's the order we work in, so there are no surprises about what happens when:
- We walk the system with you — indoor unit, outdoor unit, accessible ductwork, airflow, thermostat and controls.
- We tell you what we found in plain language, including the parts that are fine and don't need touching.
- You get a written estimate before any work startswith the scope spelled out so you can compare it against anything else you've been quoted.
- You decide. If you want to stage the work and do the highest-impact item first, we'll tell you which one that is.
- We do the work, and you know what was done and why.
Nothing gets started until you have a written estimate in your hands and you've said yes to it.
Efficiency upgrades can range from sealing and correcting duct problems, to control and thermostat changes, to replacing equipment that's past the point where repairs make financial sense. Which route makes sense depends entirely on what the walkthrough turns up, and we'll be straight with you about how long any of it realistically takes to pay back.
